RandBCreations,
Although, your 15 simple rules have a little bit of common sense, Getting high traffic to your web site is not that easy. Although, it sounds easy it's not. One would assume that if you follow your guide lines customers would come in flocks and clean you out. But from my personal experience, It is not so much the keywords or key phrases, that increase your traffic, it's a mixture of both content, and keywords. Having content rich pages, will definitely increase your search engine visibility. From my personal experience as a web developer / SEO Guru. Here's what I've found.
1. Make sure your web site is coded correctly, having errors in your code can hinder your web site's ability to rank and may not be cross-browser compatible.
2. When Using Images, make sure you give them titles and name them accordingly. Image002345 will not work. If you're selling a flowers you name your image like this:red-rose-bouquet-1 or something that tells the search engines what that image is and follow up with a brief description.
3. Use proper HTML mark-up and learn how to use your H1,h2,h3,h4,h5 headers, use your paragraph <p> tags, learn to use them. Avoid using "&nsbp's" for pacing / padding. Learn how to use CSS to control the look of your site.
4. Avoid using tables if possible when designing your web sites, as browsers continue to get more sophisticated tables can sometimes slowdown your web site and may not display correctly through out the web.
5. When using Keywords, make sure you use, content rich keywords: What this means is: if you're talking about lemons in your content, make sure you use the keyword "Lemons" in your keywords.
6. Know what's the difference between a keyword and a key-phrase. For example: red, rose, can also, be keyphrase "red rose". Or lemon, tree can also be "lemon tree" I've learned that by separating the key phrases into keywords, it makes it more random than using a specific term. Also, there is no need to repeat the same word over and over just because you use keyphrases, for example: If you're going to name more than 1 objects such as a rose, there is no need for you to keep repeating the word over and over for example: lets say you are talking about three different color roses, well this is what most people do: Red rose, yellow rose, white rose.... This is a NO-NO... you can re-write the same to "red, yellow, white, rose" There is no need to repeat the words over and over... this is saturation and it's not needed.
7. Use ROBOTS = INDEX/FOLLOW rule
8. Avoid using the revisit in XX amount of days tag. Remember, if you tell the search bots to revisit every 5 days per say. The robots will do as instructed. So avoid the revisit meta tag.
9. Use Google Web Master Tools to Generate a robot.txt file and upload it to your web site. The robot text file tells the search engines which directories you want the search engines to search in. Also, if you do not include a robot text. Avoid, leaving any old-copies of your web site on your server. Since the search engines might crawl to unwanted copies of your site.
10. Create a SiteMap, everytime you create a new page. There are thousands of sitemap.xml generators out there, use them.
Once you've done the steps above.... Now you're ready to verify and submit your web site to search engines... and keep up the efforts...
