Contestant's Case to Win

Two years ago, SailProud Apparel was formed in a Babson College dorm room as a new type of sportswear company - one dedicated to providing “transitional” performance to the nautical community. Plans were set out, and networks established to create garments that provided both protection on the water – against deadly heat, UV Radiation, sweat, odor, and mildew, and on shore – by remaining socially safe, stylish, and ultra comfortable.

Through the development of the company, the production process, and transfer over to a Home-based business upon graduation, there was a quick realization: traditional manufacturing hurt the world around us, and we needed to protect our fragile playground. The air, earth, water, and its noble marine life, all had to be taken into consideration from each point of the construction process. From that point, SP began a focus on “green” materials – bamboo, recycled plastic, organic cotton, Amazonian berry and more.

SailProud is now leading the nautical apparel world in sustainable and eco-friendly performance offerings through unique and proprietary fabrics; the perfect options for the sailor or yachtsman in all of us. SP adapts and custom designs clothing for individual yacht clubs, regattas, boat manufacturers, and sailing associations worldwide - working with customers to find the best solution to what they’re looking for, and constantly updating the transitional offering for the betterment of the company and community.

From the start, however, it was always about more than making great apparel, but rather to be proud of what we do and the causes we support. That’s where SP’s sponsorship of The Heart of Sailing Foundation came into play – helping teach children with developmental disabilities how to sail as a means of recreational therapy. The program has an unbelievable impact on all those involved – children, parents, and captains alike, and SailProud is ecstatic to be a part of the fun. Expanding the community and helping our sailors grow is the “SailProud” mantra, and we’d love to have you help us!
