Kasper Organics was inspired by my desire to work at home with my kids, and has been propelled by my desire to provide basic organic cotton clothing at affordable prices.

Working at home and keeping the size of my business small enough to fit into my apartment means employing maximum efficiency in all aspects of the business. Not a scrap of paper goes to waste. And since I make some of the items that I sell, I am always looking for ways to utilize scraps of fabric as well!

Last year we switched over to a wind-powered web host to add to the "green." We work in a small space, which can be challenging, but helps keep energy use down. And all of our lighting is now cfl bulbs. We use the full spectrum which is very pleasant. And we continually look for ways to be more efficient.

Working at home also means that I don't have to drive to work. My daughter who works with me (and lives about 13 miles away) uses a combination of public transit and her bicycle to get here. And our packages are usually taken to the post office or UPS by bicycle or on foot.

What surprised me about selling organic cotton was that I found myself in a position to help people, and not just the environment. Many of my customers have mcs (multiple chemical sensitivities) and need to find organic cotton clothing and household goods that won't trigger reactions. It has been very satisfying to be able to help people this way.
