Zosimos Botanicals exists to provide alternatives to mass-produced toxic cosmetics. But we're MUCH MORE than a green personal care company - we make a very positive environmental AND social impact. Here's MANY reasons why:

Zosimos uses very little machinery in our 100% wind-powered studio. Zosimos handcrafts our OWN LINE of mineral makeup and natural skincare, using only certified organic and natural ingredients. Made by hand, not machine! All ingredients are earth friendly: NO talc, petroleum, bismuth oxychloride, parabens, sodium lauryl sulfide, silica, synthetic FD&C colorants, synthetic fragrance oils, nanoparticles or other known irritants.

Zosimos recently received an Environmental Award. We have also received a Certificate from GenGreen in recognition of our green business practices. Our studio follows many eco-business practices, including recycling, shredding all office paper, sorting and reusing packing material. This year, we replaced plastic packaging with corn based bags, started using sugar cane based toilet paper and bio bag trash can liners!

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY is a large component of our mission. Zosimos Botanicals had a Summer Intern from Liberty's Promise charity. Liberty's Promise gives young immigrants a chance to build a resume. Zosimos donated a gift basket to the Breast Cancer Fund for their Peak Hike event, as we have done with Canine Partners for Life CHARITY, who train and place service dogs with people in need.

Zosimos Botanicals is recognized in reviews as WORTHY of being Greenest Home Based Biz of 2009. NurtureNature refers to us as one of the Top 2 picks for the SAFEST Makeup Line in the US! The first non-US review came out Aug. 28th in Spain. Reviews have been in "Green Lifestyles in Planet Paradise" magazine, PassionateGreen and GreenGardenista blogs. EDUCATION is a component of our green business. At the DC Green Festival this October, Zosimos' Owner will make Organic Lip Balm, to highlight the benefit of organic ingredients. For the 2nd year, we will be giving free green makeovers as part of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics presentation. Zosimos supports like-minded educators by providing samples to enhance their presentations including the Queens chapter of Holistic Moms Network and Workforce Wellness. Linda Stein, who owns Zosimos, is a contributing author to the award winning book "What's It Like Living Green?" by Jill Ammon Vanderwood.

Zosimos is green in its commitment to DISCLOSURE. We list all ingredients in all products. We signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics and are in Full Compliance. All 229 products in our line are ranked 0-2, as posing the lowest risk, by the Environmental Working Group on their Skin Deep cosmeticdatabase.com.
