Keyboards For Kids was started with some inheritance money from Jocelyn Morrow's late parents, perhaps a true version of "angel investors." The business is Runner Up as the Most Innovative home business in this year's ranking.
It's a family affair involving Morrow's husband as the CEO, her daughter teaching classes, and her two sons helping with inventory, marketing, and summer camps. They provide group music classes on-site at venues ranging from public schools, private schools, churches, recreation centers and performing arts centers. They've made an impact, serving 1,000 students and employing over 20 teachers in the past year. In a world where wallets are tight, but passion for learning to play a musical instrument runs high as ever, Morrow's business is providing an inexpensive alternative to private lessons. It's revenues are crescendoing, too, as the business picks up more and more venues and exposure in the Denver area. Sound like a national play and music to our ears as a business opportunity.
