My name is Kimberly Duncan. I am a stay-at-home mother of 3 children. I have created two products that not only have helped my own children, but also fill a void in the marketplace. I invented a glove that helps young children to stop sucking their thumbs. All other products are removable by the child, wasting time and money. Thumb Glove stays on and successfully breaks the habit. I also designed a bookcase that converts into a cubicle desk to help special needs kids to concentrate better in school. It has increased my 10-year-old autistic son's concentration time from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. This is real help for children with concentration problems.
I believe that I should be chosen as one of the finalists because my story is the epitomy of a home-based start-up. I saw a need for a product in my own children's lives and there were no products on the market to address that need, so I created them. Then I spent countless hours, days, weeks and months working on prototypes until I finally found designs that worked.I have launched one of my products and I am working on launching the second product this year. I currently produce the gloves myself. I am searching for a manufacturer for both products in order to launch into the next phase of my business. The exposure this competition offers would substantially help my business to grow. Thank you for your time and consideration.Kimberly Duncan
