Contestant's Case to Win

A new website founded by two Fullerton college students launched May 6th is helping beer drinkers save a little money in this gloomy economic climate. ThriftyBeer.com researches prices from thousands of stores across Southern California, Arizona and the Las Vegas metro area to help beer drinkers find the best price on their favorite beer.

Users select their city and ThriftyBeer.com gives them a list of the top 10 cheapest stores and lists each of the store’s prices by ounce. Google map software on the site displays the location of all the stores on the list, allowing the users to choose the store closest to them. Savings on beer can range from a few dollars to upwards of ten dollars. ThriftyBeer.com lists prices on both domestic and imports, in a variety of quantities.

Despite their limited business backgrounds -- McKenney, a Philosophy major at Orange Coast College and Echanique, a Political Science major at California State University at Fullerton, they have already garnered national media attention with their unorthodox publicity campaign having been featured on MSNBC.com as well as news stories aired on local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and The CW in the Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and Phoenix television markets.

With revenue rapidly increasing from advertising banners sold on their site, Echanique and McKenney plan to expand to more regions across the United States.
