Billboards are a great deal in today's advertising promotions. In a recent AP newspaper story, Bill Ripp, the director of Lamar Outdoor Advertsing was quoted, "Billboards have traditionally been a reminder business. We do branding and 'turn left at intersection' sort of stuff." Billboards have been able to avoid some of the issues facing TV & radio such as audience fragmentation or fast forwarding of commercials. "You may miss it the first time you go to work. But if you're doing it every day that message is going to get through", said Christopher Ensley of Bear, Stearns & Co in New York. Spending on billboards grew by more than 8% during the first half of 2006, according to OAAA's monthly revenue data. That's second only to the Internet advertising industry's rate of growth.
