Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received and does not reflect the quality of the business or chances of winning.
Simple Subjects, LLC publishes books that provide help to small business owners who want/need to learn about taxes, but don't have the time to dig through entire textbooks.

Our two titles so far are:

Surprisingly Simple: Independent Contractor, Sole Proprietor, and LLC Taxes Explained in 100 Pages or Less

and

Surprisingly Simple: LLC vs. S-Corp vs. C-Corp Explained in 100 Pages or Less.

(A book about taxation for non-self-employed taxpayers, as well as a book providing an introduction to accounting are both due out by the end of the year.)

While still new (started at the end of 2007), Simple Subjects has proven to have an ideal business model for a sluggish economy. Even in a down economy, people can afford to pay $10-15 for a book.

Similarly, publishing using print-on-demand technology has allowed Simple Subjects to keep its costs remarkably low: under $3,000 of expenses in the first year, while generating quite respectable revenue for a part-time business.
