Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received and does not reflect the quality of the business.
Our business should be considered a winner because we took a part-time hobby full-time and in less that 8 months are able to bill over $10,000 per month and are turning a profit with NO DEBT! Did we say we had NO DEBT and are paying the bills?
I was a homebuilder for 10 years when the market cost me my job in December 2007. I went into catering full time in January 2008 with $150 in my bank account, no credit cards and no one to lend me any money. I built a strong website, made an agreement with my church to use their kitchen, carved out an office in the sunroom of our house, got a "Smart" cellphone and started beating the bushes for new business.
In 8 months we have developed a loyal (growing) client base and have our competition scrambling to react to us. Our growth and current structure will take us to $15,000 per month in billing before we have to move into our own space and hire on a staff. We expect this by February 2009.
The great thing about catering as a startup is that the equipment is pretty cheap and you are paid, in full, in advance, before you ever have to spend a dime. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!
ALSO, I can't tell you how edifying a strong web presence is. Whether you do a Microsoft or Google freebie, use a hosted site like we do or take on the beast yourself GET A WEBSITE TODAY and find a way to get people to it. Our business is not web-based in any way, but we use our website to send people to get information from and learn more about us. This has helped us to compete against entrenched adversaries who often don't event have a website.
J-BAR-H is a great example of how a little talent, a little creativity and a lot of determination can help you follow your passion and live a life of significance rather than desperately seeking the cheese that never seems to materialize. PICK ME!
