About the Winner
Completely powered by the wind and sun, the award-winning Inn Serendipity Bed & Breakfast features vegetarian breakfasts prepared with ingredients harvested from the Inn's organic gardens. Besides offering extensive tours for guests and the public at large during the National Tour of Solar Buildings and annual Farm Open House, the innkeepers have co-authored three books on how to start a green business or green the one you have: ECOpreneuring, Rural Renaissance, and Edible Earth vegetarian cookbook. From off-setting carbon emissions to using local FSC-certified hardwood in remodeled flooring (or tile made from recycled material), from organic linens to their focus on local seasonal vegetarian cuisine (or Fair Trade for coffee/tea), they operate guided by a triple bottom line: People, planet, and some profit.
