About the Winner

This is based on the number of votes received and does not reflect the quality of the business or chances of winning.
Welcome Committee has been a successful home-based business in the Charlotte-Lake Norman region since 1998. The welcome visit is FREE for newcomers & new homebuyers. Revenue is generated through fees that businesses pay to be represented in the welcome basket.

Our friendly introductions pair new movers with local businesses they are looking for as we promote a "shop local" campaign. Word-of-mouth marketing is targeted & cost effective for our sponsors as we qualify leads and get inside the homes of new consumers who are "ready" to buy.

Each month, our Welcome Committee Greeters personally visit up to 185 newcomer households, many seeking recommendations, physician referrals, etc. Our service is a "win-win" for both the new homeowner as well as the local business owner.

I blueprinted the Welcome Committee business model in a book, "Home-Based Business: The Complete Guide to Owning and Operating a Successful Welcome Service Business" so others can start a similar business in their communities. To date, there are about 120 independent Welcome Service Businesses operating throughout the U.S., Europe and Africa.

For five consecutive years, Welcome Committee was ranked a "Best Place to Work" by the Charlotte Business Journal in the small business category in the 16-county Charlotte region for having happy & engaged employees. Additionally, Working Mother Magazine ranked us a "Top 25" best mom-owned business. We enjoy helping overwhelmed newcomers feel welcomed while helping local businesses reach new consumers and build their database.
