Entrepreneur: Burt Wingfield Location: Dalton, Georgia
10FootDrillBit.com

Description:

Not many people want a 10 foot long drill bit UNTIL they need one. That's where Burt Wingfield comes in. With his 10-foot-long drill bit, you can run a wire through an entire story of a house by drilling down through the plates and cross braces from the attic to the crawlspace. Then pull your wire back up without "fishing" for the hole. Who was one of his first customers? That other wacky enterprise - the U.S. Government. Apparently, they’re using these extra-long bits to clean out the locking mechanisms for missile silos. Wingfield says that friends and family laughed at his idea until they realized how easy it is to run new wires. “Now they call me to borrow my bit.”
