Just joined startupnation and i have already found tones of great info.
But I`m a bit stuck, I have my business plan kinda finished and my website is up and running well, I`ve started advertising and have already seen a huge jump in visits in a short time.
What do i do next? I understand investment to an extent (could do with some advice on UK investment) I need to find a partner to push the site forward perhaps?
Any ideas i would be greatful.
I have to say it looks as if you`re facing a bit of a differentiation
situation right at the moment. So many people have been reading about
the big sale to Google of the YouTube site.
I visited the site, and my first question was why I would submit these
video clips? I mean, I get the idea of showing them to friends, and in
that respect the site gets an A+ for rapidly putting across the idea.
That`s fine, but now I`d like to see some content that acts a bit as a
I`d like to see some menu items along the side, or tabs along the top,
that begin to make the site more personal--friendly, if you will. Right
now it`s so "sterile." It`s like a drinking fountain along a mountain
trail: "Here...have a drink. Water`s good, thanks for visiting." Y`know?
You might take the initiative and have a page that actually discusses,
"Why we`re not YouTube." There`s nothing wrong with bringing out a
customer question or objection directly, then meeting that objection.
We see it all the time, "Why we`re not Chevy," when you`re a Ford
Although you talk about "money," there`s no indiciation at all of how
much this site costs, how it works, and how you or I would make money.
There should be some content about that, I think.
Also, on a personal basis, I don`t like sites that tell me I have to
sign up before I find out how it works. I`m one of those folks who
doesn`t like a lot of extra junk on my own computer, so I don`t want
user names, IDs, logins, cookies, or anything else until I know what
I`m doing and I`m sure I want to go back to see the place.
In your situation, you could have a content page "How it works." There
you could use screen shots, descriptions, and so forth, to not only
explain the concept, but also to help with SEO text. :-D My thoughts,
at any rate.
