It looks like you have plenty of help with your site. :)

When I look for problems on any site I try to focus on the real bottlenecks and not so much on creating a huge list of things to fix.

While many of the tips given may have some minor impact there are some fundamental problems with your site that need to be addressed.

If you don`t understand my feedback or tips, please reply with questions.

1) Your hosting:
Your DNS servers are not functioning properly. This is a major problem that will prevent more than half of your visitors from even viewing your site. I ran a report and uploaded it to my personal blog:
http://myhep.com/assets/2008/3/25/sinwonbrands.com-dnsreport.pdf

You have missing nameservers. Fixing this will solve 97% of your issues.

2) Your images are not horrible as I have seen a lot worse, but you can probably decrease their FILE size 20-50% by resampling them. I would suggest that you use jpeg instead of the other formats suggested as it has an optimized compression for photos and also has a quality settings that allow for better optimization on photos that do not require high levels of quality.

3) I would talk to you web host and find out why your pages are not being compressed by your web server. Most sites (web servers) use a technology called HTTP Compression which will compress your site and can compress your pages (minus your photos and flash) up to 80% which will increase overall page load time.

More information can be found here:
http://www.websiteoptimization.com/speed/tweak/compress/

While your talking to your host about their broken DNS, you can mention the HTTP Compression as well.

The flash slideshow is not a problem.

If you are going to be selling primarily to the US and english speaking countries it would be best for you to use UTF-8 encoding or a Latin/European encoding/character set. This will ensure that your customers can view your site in their browsers.

Good luck!

Paul made some interesting points. I think that boytrade has gotten so much help on this topic. I think this is going to be his "TO DO" List.
Wasn`t it worth a posting? It is now up to your development team to get to work.

That is what I like about the Start Up Nation community. Everyone brings something to the table, it is not only a place to make friends but also a place where you can get valuable information from a variety of backgrounds, and this is to show.. the community at work..

This might be due to work that you`re doing on the site now, but it`s currently not loading at all, rather is giving a connection failed error (10060 WSAETIMEDOUT, Connection timed out.) It looks like this is coming from a Squid cache sitting in front of your web server.

This might be a good time to mention my startup, Panopta - we provide a server monitoring service that you can use to detect outages and slow response times from your web, email and other servers.  If you`re interested in trying our services, let me know - I`ve gotten lots of ideas and inspiration from the various discussions on StartupNation, and would love to provide a discount to any readers here.

Your site actually doesn`t load for me at all. (Mac, T1 connex, FireFox) I`d recommend to work with a designer and a developer to create a CMS based website instead of anything that uses static html and flash.

I had no idea that so many people used Squid as a caching proxy at work or at  home. (The error pages that have been posted are mostly from an open source tools called Squid.)

I believe the original poster (or their hosting company) is actually running Squid - many hosts use Squid to speed up dynamic sites that have some content that can be cached.  I know in my case, I`m not running any local proxy or cache, and neither is my ISP.

You have much work to do.

Non-English is not an issue. Maybe you`ve cleaned it up?

Change the "charset=gb2312" to an English or UTF-8 or UTF-16 charset.

Main thing is the product pictures throughout. Do not, and I repeat, do NOT rely on the browsers to resize your pictures to 180 pixels x 180 pixels! Do not be lazy... go and resize those pictures to 180x180 in a graphics program and then place them online in the same folders where they are now.

Your header across the top should be a .gif or a .png file. The image is one of few colors. General rule is that photos should be .jpg, with cartoon-like pictures and textual graphics as .gif. Much more efficient.

Fix your links, and place links on the items which obviously should have links.

This is obviously a template. Please review and complete your customizations.

Clean-up the English.

Do you expect US customers to phone you internationally? Maybe it  would be better to obtain a US toll-free number, and have it roll over to your local number.

You do not truly NEED to have that same flash movie playing on all pages, do you??? Perhaps take one image from this slideshow and use it on all pages other than the homepage? Would help reduce throughput requirements.

Your site loads too slowly, but it does load.

HTML and Flash are fine. Keep as-is, and update what I`ve mentioned. Performance will improve greatly.

Page titles should each be unique, and relate to what is on the page. With all the same, search engines will rate your site poorly. Again, do not be lazy!

Regards,
Dan...
