hey folks,

I spent a few hours on a officelive website, it`s purpose is just to have a place to send potential customers from other avenues.

I know absoultely nothing about search engines and such and so had no intent of finding traffic from them, heck aol still doesn`t list the site when I search for it by name including dot com.

well yesterday I looked at the reports to see where hits were coming from (if any) and had a hit from a keyword search on google. I thought how odd is that some guy went a couple hundred pages out to find me?

So I cut and pasted the keyword search (picnic table, detached benches) into google and low and behold there I am half way down page 4.

I tried a few other searches but only went out 10 pages and I was not there.

My wife says it`s because not many people advertize "detached benches", I am not buying that, I`m thinking there must be a more technical reason.

so with that background I know the site needs tons of work (and I really don`t want a full site review), but was wondering if you can tell me what I might have done right to get to the 4th page, so I can repeat it.

thanks in advance

Stan

Often, when a site starts to get hits, there seems to be no real pattern. It is very random which terms in what engines find you. Tomorrow may be totally different, you never know.

How long has it been online, and have you made any changes to it lately?

Sure someone clicked, but can you check who they are. Sometimes they are just robot scanning to spam which is way they would go through a 100 pages, I get it that a lot you know robots. I check my logs to find out more about it.
