What’s more important: trust, respect, or being liked in business.

From Joan Isabella, StartupNation Radio consultant

That’s my question of the day: which is most important for the growth and prosperity of your business: being trusted, respected or liked. Does it differ if you are talking about a potential employee or a partner? This conversation started for me a couple of years ago at a party with my friend, Joe. Since then, I’ve had this conversation with different people and received compelling answers for each. Some people say all three go together, but I’ve worked well with some people I didn’t like much. As a woman, especially early in my career, respect was hard to come by (I worked in sports media, and “girls” didn’t get much R-E-S-P-E-C-T). And, I’ve known very successful people who I wouldn’t trust any further than I could throw them.

My friend Joe says there is a correct answer. So let me know what you think, and I’ll share what he thinks after.
