Holiday Shopping Tips From StartupNation

StartupNation Radio is your secret to holiday shopping. Okay, nobody else at StartupNation is making that claim, but my holiday shopping is almost done, and I couldn’t have done it without StartupNation.

If you listen to any or all of the StartupNation radio shows online, you can learn about starting and running your business so you have money to spend shopping. And if you’re like me, you’ll discover some of the best companies where you can buy all kinds of stuff. You can’t beat that combo!

I listened to Patrick Byrne of www.overstock.com as a guest with the Sloan brothers talking about how to get more hits on your website. When I was through listening, I headed to the site, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Definitely check out their cache of books if you have readers on your shopping list. I bought my son a slew of books this year. And I purchased linens for some newlyweds who live out east. That is just the beginning. With the incredible discounts and shipping prices, you’ll find plenty of gifts.

I learned an even more important shopping tip from the interview with Nick Swinmurn of Zappos.com: I can actually shop while listening to StartupNation Radio. I bought a pair of boots before the interview was over. For Christmas, I’m buying my husband slippers. I always buy him slippers for Christmas. Not too exciting, but very functional.

I won my first ever eBay auction a couple of weeks ago. I was searching for a black velvet skirt for the holidays. I Googled “black velvet skirt” and the first listed item was an auction on eBay that was over in less than an hour. There were no bidders. So I bid on a Dana Buchman skirt that probably cost several hundred dollars retail and won the bid for $6.99 cents!

It’s a little tight, but it was only $6.99!!! That brings me to Spanx. I heard Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx on StartupNation Radio. Then, after my velvet skirt arrived, my friend Jenn said, “Just get some Spanx and it will fit you perfectly.” So I headed to Spanx.com and got some extra tummy tightening stockings. (that’s not the real name of the product, but I hope that’s what they will do!) All this without leaving my desk!

So, listen to StartupNation Radio, read the website, and get your holiday shopping done in a flash! If you have some shopping tips, bring them on.
