Podcasting can launch your business

I am a podcast-aholic. I walk around all day long with white ear buds and long white dangling cords connected to my ipod. I am definitely suffering from an addiction to … FANTASTIC AUDIO CONTENT.

Oh sure, I listen to a little bit of music, but I’ve been taking my ipod to bed with me (seriously) and falling asleep listening to Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code, PodTech.net InfoTalk, the President’s Weekly Radio Address, and of course, StartupNation Radio. You can subscribe to all of these podcasts so that they automatically get downloaded to your computer and then synch-up with your ipod or other portable media player. I use the free iTunes software to search for podcasts that interest me.

I used to work out at the gym jamming to Green Day, Jet, Johnny Cash and the Go-Go’s (I know, an unusual range of musical tastes – but don’t we all have some sort of weird music interests?). Now I go 30 minutes on the exercise bike with David Lawrence’s Personal Netcast Podcast (David did an online seminar with us recently on Podcasting) or a national talk radio podcast. Did you know you can subscribe to the podcast of NBC’s Meet the Press? (just search for it in iTunes)

So, what does an addict do in situations like this? Go to next week’s inaugural Podcasting Expo in Ontario, California!! Oh yes, I am a glutton for punishment. I’m going to meet a couple thousand podcasters who are all looking to create or grow a business around their podcasts. We’ll talk about how to monetize podcasts, how to grow an audience – basically how podcasting entrepreneurs can keep podcasting and make a successful business out of it.

Why do I love podcasts so much? Because I’m a part of the on-demand generation who wants what I want when I want it. And I love listening to great content on the go.

Are there any other addicts out there? There’s safety in numbers, so let me know and maybe we can set up a support group. I have a feeling I’ll be meeting some other podcast-aholics next weekend, I’ll let you know how it goes.
