How Important is List Segmentation?

Attracting the attention of a current or potential customer with new products and services is getting harder and harder. Each day, email marketers are analyzing how to increase click through rates and reestablish their return on investment. Segmenting your email list of contacts enables you to select a portion of your audience for targeted marketing.

Using list segments allows you to send to a specific portion of your list according to common criteria. For example, you can create a Segment that only contains contacts that live in California. Then, you can send an email to those contacts that only contain information pertinent to California residents.

This makes your campaigns more effective. If you use iContact as your email service provider, you can easily create multiple segments for all of your email contact lists. Segments will let you easily target a portion of your contacts that meet a specific criterion such as a standard field, custom field, or subscription date.
