I thought I would start this forum mainly because I've always believed these two quotes: "a master of everything is a master of none." and "I get by with a little help from my friends." The hardest part... for most folks... is admitting they need help. So, how do you do that... and how do you find partners and good employees?

Gosh Sway,
It's like you're reading my mind. It is sooo hard to admit
needing help...and if you are home alone running the business...there
are few opportunities to ask for help outside of the necessary vendor
assistance.
What tends to happen is...someone can offer to help but it can seem like that person is barging in on your space.
Do you know what I mean?

I like what it was suggested to keep people that you run into, write down what they do on the back of their business cards. My current company would actually go as far as asking for employees' birthdate, birth place, and time they were born and sent to a Feng Shui Master prior to making final decision ... geez ...
I also agree with making your own criteria list before reaching out to people so you know exactly what kind of people you're looking for. A closed friend of mine really wanted to be part of the business venture but he whines so much and he would rather spend 10 minutes mopping on why things don't always happen his way than do something about it. As Pam Slim said in one of her article, "get him off the bus!"
There are, as matter of fact, tons of great people here at SuN! Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

Staffing your company is the Hardest thing, it takes an ego to be a great leader, CEO, Mentor, Coach etc not a cocky ego but a confident one. The first thing you must do is humble yourself to the point of hiring people and finding people better than you, if you want to be successful. You need to look for qualities that are not you, diversity is key sharing great ideas can't be similar they have to be diverse and if you are starting a business you must be surrounded with great people to make sure if you come to a roadblock that you can get around it multiple ways.
A lot of times people tend to hire people that they simply can rely on, those people are important too but not the only critical part they need to be Self Starting, Creative, Smart and Reliable to be able to bounce new ideas or be aggressive about tackling the next obstacle as a new company.
Just my 2 cents on the Find Great People front...

Really a great step in building strong winning teams! So far, I have made slow progress due to the overpretectionism I have towards a concept. This article has enlightened the putting the power of people, teamwork and trust into the process of taking the idea to reality.
Thanks so much!

Aligning yourself and working with people you enjoy working for in the end is the success of most business models. For example, I had an annoying client once who never paid on time, always complained and was to be blunt, a pain in the B$%t!
The day I rid of him was an enlightening day for me. Why? Because I realized that like people hang around each other and I sure as heck didn't want any referrals like him taking up my practice.
Instead, I work for people I love working with and in turn, I receive referrals from them of new clients of the same likeness.
