I like this very much. Especially the part about using widgets wisely. So many sites use them for the sake of using them, and it really achieves nothing except to clutter up the site!

Widgets don't always clutter a web site, sometimes, a widget is the best way to go if
1. you're running out of layout space.
2. if you're categorizing items in a web site, widgets work wonderful in the FAQ section of a web site... less scrolling down and less pages to create.

The reason to watch out for widgets include things like speed (3rd party applications and excessive scripting can slow down your site) and flow (they can really stand out on a site and no mesh well with your in-house look and feel).

I'm not sure what definition of widget you're using, Edgar ...

I was thinking more on the "Spry",  AJAX, and DHTML widgets,  Nicole...and I wouldn't consider a 3rd party software a widget... and you are correct if a script "widget" is not coded correctly it can bogg and even slow down your web site. But, I wouldn't say that they are not good to use on a web site... Again, it all comes down to what you consider a widget. Edgar Monroy

This is a great site. My wedding photography business is brand new although I am not new to photography! My website is all flash so I think I may be up the creek for google search engines.
I'm not techie minded when it comes to that but every ounce of infomation on this is helpful. I am always looking for marketing suggestions.
