Here?s how to achieve that crucial step ? without having to shell out too much cash to get it done.

My partner is a inventor and he has a patent pending product, he ask me to go out and find investors, now that sounds interesting but I have no clue where to go or who to ask. His number is very high for the initial investor or group of investors. He has taken it upon himself to shop his invention around via phone and fax communication. So far no bites but some interesting support to move forward, its just not something they would be interested in at this point in time.

Now he has some plans on how he will manufacturer and where he will do that, he also has plans to train people to build his product. What he needs is interested parties to invest in his invention, he has other's as well but this one is done.

It's hard to tell what you are asking/telling ... venting?

What I can tell is that you're in CA and if you're in the bay area this place would be worthwhile TechShop as they have tools and classes that you/he can use to create the prototype ... if that's what you're asking.

If it is patent pending, maybe you should share more details about the invention. What is it? What field is it in? What benefit does it bring? How much does it cost? How much do you think people will buy it for?

Thanks Tiger/John

Currently he is showing his inventions to a couple of interested parties, while he is doing this I will continue to find potential investors. His prototype is in the area of high rise building and commercial size building safety windows equipped with escape capibilities. Being fully equipped to make his own product on a small scale at this time, his interest are in development on a much larger scale.

Sounds like a very interesting and useful invention.

However, since there is very little high rise construction going on in US, maybe you can use some different approach. Check newspapers of major cities for any high rise projects. Normally, the city requires bidding from several developers and architecture firms. Call the city and ask the city and/or the developers. Maybe they will be interested in funding it, or hook you up with investors.

If you can get the city to add "easy escaping in emergency" to the project requirement, it will sure help a lot.

Adding to what johnqh said, and not having a good feel for the product, I'd take a look at retrofitting too ... and you might also be able to get the property owners/leasers on board too as that might be a leasing/selling feature.

Here is a site I've groked that has a list of all buildings over x-stories ... darn it; it used to be available and now I can't find it (greatbuildings site?), but there is a site where you could get all buildings over 6 stories by city ... here is a wiki, but that's just kind of fun reading and you need to drill down to actual properties based on your product and market.  (guess the list is another 9/11 causalty)

Thanks guys

The beauty of this device is that it can be installed to spec's to replace windows already in place, of course they will be strategically placed based on need in excess of 100 floors.

Not being the inventor, my interest is determining the type of investors to approach, currently we have a CPA looking at this device, he has access to potential venture and or angel investors.

BTW, being new to this site, I find the information invaluable, being my first time involvement in this environment the Sloan Brothers have been a great resource and this site was the first place I thought of after reading the book.

Should I have specific questions regarding issues, I will share with you if your available, so far you have been very kind & informative...Thanks..
