I think that in order to succeed in network marketing the distributor first needs to get his head in the right place. What does that mean? It means that he has to start thinking like an entrepreneur. Most people that enter the business are not entrepreneurial in the their heads - they may say the right things and know all the tactics and strategies, but if their head is not in the right place then they just wont stick with those tactics and strategies for to long.
When choosing a company you also need to check if that company has a proper training program. Training programs that will make you a successful distributor and programs that will help you get your mind and head in the right place.

Many distributors are told that they need to build a huge downline.... thats very nice but I disagree. What the distributor needs to develop a group of leaders or a downline of leaders and not followers. Developing leadership in a downline is critical.

What great posts.

Essayhelp, yours is succinct and right on the money. It's beyond doubt that more and more people will appreciate that network marketing is the only truly sensible business model for the overwhelming majority of people seeking their own ventures.

Yes, leaders are key. Layers and layers of leaders! If you think of it like raising great kids, it helps.

What is the goal of parenthood? That your kids will grow up, leave home, support themselves and start families of their own. Grandkids require less effort IF parents are being good parents. With grandkids, you enjoy all the benefits of kids but you don't have the daily feeding and diaper changes to deal with!

You really need to be willing to invest in your leaders and teach them to teach and train their leaders. It's called duplication and that's what builds residual income. Fortunately, with Network Marketing it doesn't take near as long as raising children.

That's a great analogy!

I really like Tim Sales' version of the Lao Tzi classic quote:

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day
Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for life
Teach a man to teach his children how to fish, we'll end world hunger.

We are lucky in our Company to have a CEO with an extraordinary background in Network Marketing. He developed a system called "five by five".

The nuts and bolts of this are that you focus on recruiting, training and developing five people with similar aspirations to your own on your first level. Focus then on training them how to find their five and training them how to train. The other five being the assumption of five customers per rep.

At that point, the network will develop outside of your direct control assuming you are training and developing the 30 people properly. The numbers achieved on a fairly typical seven level plan are stunning once it fills to five by five.

Now this isn't to say you only recruit that number of people, these are people within your network who are as entrepreneurial as you.

What I love about five by five is that it really is that simple. Many people freeze or do not succeed because they see the "golden people" who make millions and then think they cannot. It seems like the proverbial elephant that they have to eat.

Five by five eats that elephant one spoon at a time and it brings achievability into the world of any that seek success.

Of course this is all dependent on another characteristic of network marketing that I love which is "pay it forward".

My former businesses taught me that if I was generous of nature within those fields I would be cheated, lose contracts, or otherwise be bitten. I hated it.

If you are not generous of nature in network marketing you cannot succeed. Everyone wins and no one is cheated. It's truly a life-changing realization (at least it was for me). I love training and mentoring others. I love finding customers and reps for those in my group. It's the best win-win I've had in any business or career I've been in.

In the past, I never would have gotten involved with  an MLM.  However, after a month of research, I just got involved in one that is just taking off!  It started here in South Florida and is just starting to reach a couple other major cities - and what is one of the mantras of MLM - get in at the ground floor!  Also, after reading other posts, this MLM tops them all - you don't have to buy any inventory or sell anything - you get paid for your normal day to day shopping (over 600 major stores - Macy's, Walmart, Target, I-Tunes, Old Navy, etc., etc - and you just need to refer two people.  With the rising price of gas, on-line shopping is becoming more essential to consumers and the stores are closing brick and mortar locations so they need to drive business to their on-line stores, thus the compensation for us.
Oh, if you want info, just email me @ IGetPaid2Shop2@aol.com with name and phone number and I'll schedule you for a free webinar!.  If you're already involved in a MLM, this could be a great add-on to offer your down-line - before someone in your downline gets wind of this and turns everything upside down so they become the upline and you are now the downline!

Ground Floor?

Maybe, if a company survives (most do not), it can enhance the opportunity.

We earned over $30K our first year with a company that has been around since 1988.

There are many important factors. Being in on the ground floor is not one of them. Question the source of where you heard that.
