You can start most of these business with very little cash, true...BUT you can spend a lot of advertising and marketing, depending on you're target! I reach a national target for my business. It can be VERY costly! I've been very creative in attacking my marketing/advertising with minimal funds. I specialize in low start ups from forming your legal entity, to business plans, outlining these effective, but efficient cost-saving ideas. While you've got professional organizer on your list, you've missed Home Stager. Some professional organizers do both once they realize how much more profitable staging can be than organizing.
You can work from a home office, you don't need to invest in inventory and you're selling a service that marries the two sexy topics of "making money in real estate" and "decorating".
Homeowners will spend anywhere from $400 and up for a two hour consultation, to thousands of dollars to have their homes decorated to sell. Because they make a profit on the services of a Home Stager, it's a much easier sell than some other services.

I am trying to envision a start-up that shops at local yard/garage/estate sales for specific items for people in other parts of the country. My idea is that every area has different items that can be purchased at rediculous prices at these sales and I go to about 15-20 of these sales weekly anyway. I am looking for items that are of interest to me and my family but can see that it could be useful to someone in another area, or even someone in my area that doesn't have the time or the will to search these places (and I usually include the Thrift stores in my searches for "treasure"), and with the giveaway prices at most of these sales the shipping costs should not be a problem. The issue is how do I go about getting paid for the item and shipping?
