Increase the effectiveness of your signature tag by including a tip. For example, if you're a dog groomer your signature line might include: "Get rid of wet dog smell by rubbing a dryer sheet through fur". Change your tip often.

And here's another. . . Don't just have a signature line that sends visitors to your website. Send them to a page that aligns with your call to action. For instance if you want browsers to sign up for your newsletter, send them directly to the newsletter sign up page.

Some really great tips! I really like the email signature one - I think I always forget to do that.

Another great ROI is gift cards. Sending out a direct mail piece with a with a free gift card is very powerful and profitable way to increase sales and margins.  To understand how the psychology of gift cards work click here: gift card marketing

WarriorOne I like the idea of sending them to a specific page within your website! Another idea I like is using a unique graphic signature that has live links to actual tabs on your website! This is a great thread!!!

Jeff, thanks for the websites. I hadn't heard of the cookies before! All of this creative marketing is simply exciting!!!

These are really great tips. Being a start up company we tend to get caught up in the paradox and miss the main things that will give our business the visual recognition needed to move forward.

One thing I am not seeing here is getting your USP down. Your Unique Selling Point.

It's the first sentence in your elevator pitch. It's the statement on your business card. It's your guarantee. Your USP is your reason for being in business. It's the thing that you do better than anyone else.

Also, a web marketing tip: It's really hard for a new site to get anywhere in the search engine rankings. Be sure to design your site so that you can add content to it, because content is king. Google loves content. A blog is an easy way of doing that.
