Great article! On a MUCH SMALLER scale, my own business is like that. I bring together small non-traditional retailers in the scrapbook industry and then we present our group to vendors who might not work with non-B&M stores. We tell them to look at us COLLECTIVELY even though we might represent many smaller accounts. Individually, our members don't buy as much as a B&M, but when the vendors figure out that we represent well over $1 million in potential annual purchasing power, they seem to want to work with us. Some have even given us their "best" deals such as free shipping, smaller minimums and even additional discounts on their products.
A buying group or co-op has many benefits!
