I couldn't disagree more! I've run windows since 3.1 for workgroups and this is the worst (I never had ME). I had Vista preinstalled on my new Dell laptop and it crashes at least twice a day. I could give a rats rear end about the new gizmos I waited for Vista for more security. This is the most secure because I have to back it up every hour before I lose my data. All I read is wonderful reviews I can't believe I'm the only one with stability problems.“Impossible” is just the degree of difficulty where most people stop trying.

I don't give a hoot about new features. All I want is all my existing applications run as expected. Yet my dual core PC and laptop are just slower every day. Sometimes I click on a common application and nothing happens for many long seconds. I wrote engineering software for a few years but Windooze are unfathomable.

The fact Dell has had to step back from automatically offering Vista & Vista Business on new systems to offering customers a choice between Vista or XP says something significant. While Microsoft may be on the right track, they're not quite there yet. Our advice to consumers has always been to give new OS's a few years after beta before jumping on board. If the average personal PC works for about 3 years before the problems start to pile up, plan on the next system being pre-installed with Vista. Upgrading your current system is never a good idea!
Today things are a bit different. The kinks are being gradually worked out and we're not hearing nearly as many complaints from new Vista users (not counting those who began with Vista back in '07). Would love to hear some reviews from recent purchasers.
