Always interesting to track the twists and turns of careers, it's almost never how you imagine it at the outset I would imagine (I know I didn't foresee my path ten years ago) - puts five year plans and the like in perspective. Make them, but be flexible! chuck fuller

RE: "Unable to find written materials that suited her teaching needs, Levy published Strategies for Study Success......"

One of the very first things I learned as I started with piano lessons, was a Bach invention. The story behind them so fascinated me, I never forgot. For those who don't know, Johnny Bach (as his buddies called him) also was a music teacher.

Bach had a mathematical mind, inventing a certain type of music that links itself with mathematical relationships. He couldn't find anything out there to use as exercises for his students, so he wrote all the "books."

That whole concept just captured my imagination. It was the first time I asked myself, "Who says you have to go ask someone else who's the authority? What if NOBODY is the authority? What if what you're doing is totally new? Then what?"

I learned that in such situations, I'm the authority....if it's my idea. That's what's so cool about starting a new business, launching a new product, inventing a new device. It's never been done, so there aren't any rules. :-) I like that...no rules.
