I know I had posted my opinion earlier but I would like to expound on this subject just a little more.  Many feel outsourcing is new, but I think what is new is the fact that outsourcing has now moved across global boundaries.  Many small businesses have been used as the outsourced partners of large businesses for a long time.  Our company would not existed for 25 years if large companies had not sent us the outsource business we have received.  So how can I say outsourcing could be bad if my company exists because of we receive it?  I think the real issue is how important our jobs, life styles and economy are to each of us here in the county where we live.  When we decided to send jobs and money over seas, do we make sure they return the favor?  I feel that outsourcing is good as long as it improves the bottom line and does not harm, or better yet even improves, our economy.  Right now I feel there is an imbalance that is getting worse and we need to consider all aspects of the consequences our decisions both in short term and long term.  This is true of even small businesses….

We have clients that outsource their pre-employment background screening needs to us.  This is an area tightly controlled by state and Federal laws...one mistake can land a company right in the middle of a law suit filled by the applicant.  It takes a great deal of time and energy ( that means $$ in the business world) to keep current with the laws, play phone tag trying to locate past employers, educational institutions, and references and (when necessary) verify the database findings by going to the court house and/or canvasing.
I do think that companies in America should outsoruce to American companies...keep the  money at home.

Outsourcing is a great option for small business.  Many cases like mine, it would put you in a position where you are half way between can afford to hire someone and cannot afford it, this allows you to be able to hire someone now.  As well you do not have to worry about extra costs like paying your employee health benefits, since it is done.  You can see 15 benefits of Small Business Outsourcing at www.wonderfulsuccess.com/2008/10/small-business-outsourcing-benefits that I enjoy and review

There are some tasks that fit outsourcing naturally...virtual assistants are a great example of how outsourcing can be used to reduce the impact of overhead on your budget. At some point, it is important to ask yourself if doing everything without support is preventing you from making more money. If you are spending all of your time answering the phone, making appts, updating your web page, etc, you are taking away time from customer service and biz development.
