For example, a member could select to be alerted to private messages on a forum via text message alert. I'm not looking for SMS text messaging advertising, just alerts. Opt in only.

Can these scripts be easily integrated into open-source CMSs like Drupal or Joomla?

Also, is there any infrastructure on my part that needs to be in place to use such an alert system  like high-tech gizmometry... transmitters/towers/satellites/lasers? If the infrastructure is handled by someone else, how am I charged? Costly? Or is the alert system purely code based?

Just do a search for "free website sms script", I'm sure they are out there .... the scripts may have info included regarding any issues you'll need to work with, and you can contact your webhost as well about any special needs or restrictions on using them. M Hall
