Straight from google "You can provide multiple Sitemap files, but each
Sitemap file that you provide must have no more than 50,000 URLs and must be no
larger than 10MB (10,485,760) when uncompressed. These limits help to
ensure that your web server does not get bogged down serving very large
files."

Typically most "free" sitemap generators list 500 url's.
Sitemaps are limited to 50,000 entries or 10 mb, but you can have multiple sitemaps with a sitemap index of 1,000 sitemaps. That means 50,000,000 entries.

If I remember tonight I can post the free one I use. It has no limits and have a million options to make it just right for your site.

Ok here it is: you'll need to read the page to get the hang of everything and working it effectively. Specifically the section titled "Sitemap Generator Details"
The actual program is the image near the top that says webmaster tool with a globe by it. Next to the text "NOTE: This Sitemap Generator has been completely revamped"

Anyways, works really well and has no limits if you take the time to understand it. Enjoy.

Interesting that a site would expect to have more than 50,000 URLs. And how useful would that be, exactly?
