just some thoughts - would be interested in everyone's feedback and opinion...

when i discovered this site way back when it was always coming out with new , bigger and better things....articles, podcasts, this and that...it seems that all that has significantly slowed down??

i used to enjoy the podcasts a lot.  now there are fewer podcasts each time i fire up itunes.  i haven't tuned into the radio show.  are they still doing it?

i have always been subscribed to the forum posts.  i have seen that activity significantly decline.

alexa ranks were well in the low 30s and even high 20s at one point.  now it is touching almost 60k (the lower the better).  traffic has significantly taken a hit?

what do you think is the future direction of the portal? what are jeff and rich planning to do for the site's future? a possible buy-out?

these are all just curiosity questions.  it has nothing to do with my opinion of SuN. i thank SuN a lot for what they have done for all of us and i have and still enjoy my time on the site and interacting with other entrepreneurs across the world.

no i am certain it is not just you....i was wondering for a very long time and finally had to stick my nose out there.  let's hear some validity from everyone....what do you feel? what are your thoughts?  i want to see this site do well and continue to help entrepreneurs across the globe.  what is missing? and how can the decline be stopped?  with layoffs and outsourcing one would think now is the time this site and its leadership is needed the most? thank you for your frank views.

i am so let down that you're not feeling the love, SUN-sters!

here are some cool facts and updates off the top of my head so you know that the last thing in the world we're doing is... slowing down!:
  • traffic in the past 60 days is up over 115% (averaging over 10,000 visitors per day now)
  • page views per visit are up 20%
  • our media partnerships have enabled us to establish our brand and our important message in support of entrepreneurship in leading pubilcations, websites, TV shows and events in an unprecendented volume and quality
  • we're slowly phasing out the radio show and will be launching new (shorter) podcasts instead in 2009.
  • we're launching a completely new networking/social feature set in about a month that will include capacity for immense contributions by our community members in multiple media forms.
  • in addition to Home-Based 100 and Dorm-Based 20 ranking, which have been huge successes, we're launching two new rankings in Q1/Q2 of 2009 that are going to be very appealing.
  • we've launched over a dozen new bloggers in the past 90 days
  • we introduced the StartMeUp! program which handholds people through the startup process with personal weekly support
  • we've introduced a free vendor matching service that helps business owners in the selection of pre-screened vendors critical to their business success.
  • we continue to receive anecdotal feedback in the form of private messages and emails indicating that StartupNation is playing an invaluable role in the inspiration, launch and growth of businesses and the ambitious entrepreneurs behind them.
  • uhhh... these are just the things that are top of mind.

it's a let down to me that we're not resonating with the two of you anymore. i would ask that you include here things you think that would immediately make StartupNation more valuable to you. you can bet that we'll do whatever we can to stay relevant and maintain our role as inspirer, educator, and connector to resources for your success.

I'm still as excited about SuN as I ever was. I do miss hearing from Jeff :) And since Rich asked, I'll say that I particularly love the interviews with entrepreneurs. Those are the ones that inspire me to believe I can do what they've done! But that's my personal preference, and is based on where I am right now. Brian O'Keefe

i don't doubt the facts you have listed rich, and they very well may be and even more so.  however i was speaking from personal experience.  for example, i dont get nearly as much notification in my inbox about forum discussions.  that is just one example.

now as you indicated maybe the focus is shifting the "bigger and better" things and i am just failing to see it because i am so fixated on expecting what i have always been used to.  it was simply an observation and ive been meaning to ask it for a while now.  i will dig through the website and explore the newer material that i have not seen.

i am glad you responded and have told us where exactly SUN stands and where it is heading. that is definitely comforting to know.
