Hello all,

I would like to request feedback on the following marketplace...

My company (InventionHome) is currently beta testing a FREE online marketplace for innovative products, called www.matchproduct.com.  The goal of the site is to help small companies or inventors with finished innovative products to connect with wholesale or retail buyers.

We wanted to provide a free platform / service (i.e.: commission only) for helping these folks with the often difficult task of landing retail or wholesale orders or finding a company to license patent rights they may have in the product.  Additionally, we wanted to create a marketplace that was not one of those sites where you list products and hope that someone finds it.  As a result, we developed a very proactive and interactive approach/service for marketing the products directly to company contacts and where the sellers view MatchProduct as an extension of the their sales team, without the cost.

The site is up and running in beta mode, but, we are still looking for users to list products and provide feedback and / or suggestions before we commercially launch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Your top banner is cutting off the company name....or something. There's a graphic object that's run off the top of the page, just above the "matchproduct.com" logo.

The main two things I see are the big picture of the globe and packages, and what "appears to be" the requirement to register. It's just too big, and acts as a negative incentive against browing the site.

The globe picture looks like you're a shipping company, perhaps something like UPS (with all the brown). It doesn't suggest new products or matching inventors with distributors or manufacturers. I'd suggest a graphic artist, and brainstorming a better visual way to get across the concept.

The requirement to register ordinarily means losing most of your first-time visitors. Without letting people see what's going on, most folks nowadays just don't bother to register. We have a million userIDs and login passwords, can't remember any of them, and don't know what site they're connected with.

Instead, I'd suggest having a couple of success stories (testimonials) on the main page, and change the "sign up and register" to a tab. Show people what you're offering, show them that it works, show them examples of other people using the site. THEN ask if they'd like to become part of this growing network. :-)
