I thought this was a helpful article.
I have one invention idea in particular I'd like to try to prototype.
I'm just not the most mechanically inclined guy, you know. Anyone else in this similarly creatively designed, but not well-constructed boat?

In response to the article.

You can build it yourself, but use the power of the internet.

They have their own propriety  CAD software you can download.
It looks real simple as far as CAD goes. Design and build your part and get real time quotes for 1 copy or 100 pieces. You do have to be mechanically inclined, but with this system you can prototype from a hotel room if you wanted to.

I haven't used them yet, but might need them one day.

Don't be in a rush to spend your hard earned money on a prototype.  Depending on the product, you should really spend more time evaluating and refining the design first.  Be careful about how you spend your money.  There are many stories about half-baked ideas going right to the prototype or even promotion stages.  I don't consider half-baked ideas, bad ideas.  On the contrary, they are the necessary starting point to develop great ideas.  Complete the baking/design process.

Enjoy the trip and good luck.
