I am considering starting a mall type site.  Any have a good recommendation?

Here are my criteria:
1.  Multiple users (sellers) can upload images and descriptions for unique items
2.  search engine friendly
3.  ability to either deduct commission from sale, or ability to charge fees at the end of the month

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure, but isn't this type of site called a "directory?" Craig Landes

How are you going to drive people to the site? Most people want to have items on a site that is heavily used. This concept sounds a little like Ebay. Is there a specific market, products, or identity that will make you unique? Are you going to develop the site yourself? Sites like this are usually extensive in their development in order for people to download content and be buy/sell through a site requires substantial user protection on the site to prevent theft. Just some ideas to toss around. Alicia Fear nothing, and express compassion as your gift to the world. Alicia

www.clickbank.com let's you download a link that cookies you for everything they digitally sell! That is as easy as it gets as far as loading up a quick store.

We also added a traditional store by using a free code which is called OSCommerce, google that if you want to build a store of your own.

We didn't want the hassle of actaully taking payment or shipping so we chose to affilaite with existing big box stores through commission Junction, shareasale and other store aggregators.

Here's a look at our little store: http://www.thecitruscountyclassifieds.com/shopping/index.php We don't focus purely on the store but offer it as more of a convenience to our main line which is advertising in a broader sense.

Keywords, Meta Tags, Title Pages and content will attract the search engine spiders online so start with those considerations to get SEO'd up from the start!

We were number 1 in Both Yahoo & Google for the search term "Citrus County Classifieds" after 1 month! (our main focus) so think about what exactly you are selling then detail the heck out of your website with keywords to start.

Magento Commerce is a great open source e-commerce platform. It is a traditional shopping cart, but maybe there are developers that could modify it to fit your needs.

Hi,

What you need is something called "Community eCommerce Website Development."  If I understand you correctly you want to build a website that the community (i.e. members) can upload/sell their own products, correct?
