If your looking for a contact on the SMS text messaging service I have a provider that I have personally used and had a good trial run with. Although the industry did not end up working with that format of marketing the company was great.

PM or email me direct for contact details.

So I might have some advice and that is get in google fast. Yes I know is not SMS but with more people having smartphones like the iphone and google pushing the iphone is really important to get your store listed on Google Maps since that will be the application preffered for geolocation search.

Also alternative there are service already set in place by some services like Tellme and others that give you a special number and do the search for you.

Right you are - the CAN-SPAM law covers spamming to cell phones and there are VERY strict rules about required Opt-in for text messaging.  When you market to people that have opted in to receive your messages the response rate is HUGE!  In other words, you don't need a million people to get real results, real fast.  On the other hand, if you receive a text message to confirm an appointment w/your doctor, dentist or salon, no opt-in is required.  This is  considered a "transaction already agreed to" aand is exempt from the CAN-SPAM law.  This is good news for anyone that relies on clients to show up for scheduled appointments:  no shows=no $$, and if appointment reminders aren't done, more than 40% of people will no-show.   Tha said I think this use of text without permission is 100% okay unless the client EXPLICITY requests to be reminded via other means of communication.  FINALLY, people who work by appointment are not held hostage makeing phone calls every day and sending emails that aren't opened.  One of my customers only offers text reminders - he says no one ever answers when they call and that fewer than 30% of his emails get opened, and that sending a reminder is a courtesy to the client - I agree.  "May we confirm your next appointment with a text message?"
