I love what Paula has advocated here. Shopping local and getting yourself and your business online are two VERY important factors in the success quotient.

I've built a website that anyone can operate in their own areas which allows folks to advertise and network locally while helping others do the same.

We are licensing mirror websites with all the bells and whistles just like the one here: http://www.CitrusCountyClassifieds.com this allows other potential operators to set one up and run it in their county.

One quick note about 301 Redirects is that you can quickly fix all of this with a properly formatted .htaccess file on Linux Servers and using the software package ISAPI Rewrite (essentially a .htaccess file for IIS) on Windows IIS servers http://www.isapirewrite.com/.  This method can save you TONS of hours of headaches when properly formatted. I plead ignorance.  What's an H1 tag?  I have a service business, and all appointments are made online, so people being able to find our site is important.  We'll have to get on a few of these ideas.

It's HTML speak for a heading tag in large font.

The style (size, color, and font) assigned to an H1 tag can be anything you want.
The default is a large font.

The importance of using h1, h2, h3 tags is that they can some weight to help search results for your website.

do tags other than h1 (h2, h3...) carry as much weight at h1, or are they less significant?

For some search engines, yes. Use an external CSS to format your pages. This way it will be a lot easier to format all the content of your website.

And remember H1 doesn't always have to be a large font. Using CSS styles you can make regular text formatted with H1.
