Yanick,
This is exactly what we have been doing at Whiner and Diner. It did take a lot of time (about a year) and hard work; people are now calling to make sure the product is actually a "Whiner and Diner". We make hand-crafted authentic wooden wine crate pet feeders, beds and toy boxes. We went from (after being approached by many companies wanting to mass product us for a third of the price- and it is tempting when you are struggling...), to just a couple of sales a week, to being actually recognized as a high-end , unusual, eco-friendly company...and getting ten x more sales than when we started. If (wealthy) people like and want your product, price is not a object.
And still growing...only in America!

Order the book: Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini.
He goes into detail about why and how this works. It's a hard read (the book), but if you order and understand and apply the strategies, it can take sales to another level.

Whole generations in the US have grown up believing that if it costs more, therefore it "must be" better.
