Hi!
I've just found this post, so please forgive the delayed reply. I represent Newsforce as the Chief Marketing Officer, and I'll happily answer any questions about the positioning of the product and the whole "search optimization" thing in regards to PR.

Dale, even SEO professionals use some software to help save them time and to doublecheck their assumptions when optimizing a piece of content. I know that I used a combination of as many as 4 software tools and a half-dozen website resources when I was doing SEO consultation for a living. I agree that you can certainly wing it and use your best instincts when optimizing, and most of the time that might be just fine.

However, there are a lot of corporate communications and PR people out there that aren't as comfortable with the process. They can easily shave off a few minutes or an hour by using some level of "decision support" such as Newsforce, which supplies keyword analysis data and a wizard interface that tells them exactly how many times to repeat the keyword. I have been doing SEO for 11 years, and I find that it makes the process a whole lot faster for me (I use the product myself!) And, ideally, the process could then be handed off to a writer rather than an SEO person.

I talk to a lot of writers who really don't want to have to learn the nuts and bolts of SEO - they just want something that will help them get compliant and achieve more visibility with their releases.

We do have one testimonial posted on the site, so I'm not sure how that got overlooked. We get a lot of verbal kudos when we talk to people on the phone who say they like the reports and how they're now really getting interested in the keyword research aspects. I'd love to have more written testimonials - if any of you tries it and likes it, please let us know!! We're really a pretty new company, so we're looking for feedback from the community.

If you want to talk more about why optimizing is good, and how we believe the needs of PR pros are changing, please feel free to contact me directly: dtodd-at-newsforce.com  (written out to fool spambots!)

Sincerely,
Dana Todd
