Hi everyone. This is my first post on this site.I hope someone can help me with my question. I'm planning to sell a specific clothing brand from Japan to the US. Is there any way to make it so that I am the only person allowed to sell those items in the US?
You would need to negotiate an exclusive distributor arrangement with the brand/manufacturer in Japan. It is up to them to decide who is allowed to distribute their product in a specific country. These types of deals are not unheard of, however, you would probably have to provide convincing evidence that you are their best choice. Exclusive deals tend to run for a specific period of time (3 years, 5 years) with the option for re-negotiation at the end of the contract.
