Marcus Colby says Reading through all of this, it is clear GEN is a negative person. It is ridiculous to think children should not watch television. It is so part of our lives, as I am certain Ipad, pda's, computers are part of GENS life everyday. Kids will always watch TV, why not give them something educational to watch, just limit the amount of time they watch it. Scuba Jack isnt a couch potato is he? From what I have seen, he goes out to the beach explores tidal pools and goes on lobster boats. It's a form of education on television, which children watch. This is supposed to be a platform to pitch a business idea, not be ridiculed by people like GEN who apparently have nothing positive to say. GEN, maybe some constructive realistic advice for Beth? Suggest maybe Scuba Jack adds a fun exercise to the next video, or says, "Hey kids, now that your done watching me, head outside and get some fresh air". BOO!

bethcostanzo@hotmail.com says Gen, I don't think that you understand our concept. Many theorists past and present advocate for hands-on/experiential learning. Piaget and Dewey to name a few. It is not just a dvd, it is an actual classroom where children and families can join in. They have assignments to do with each dvd. This makes learning fun and interactive!

Gen says Jack, excellent point! I still am not in favor of more television for children. If someone needs to take their children out of preschool or decides to home school, I truly hope they wouldn't rely on a television show to educate them.

bethcostanzo@hotmail.com says JACK, BTW- A startup company is a company with a limited operating history. These companies are generally newly created, are in a phase of development and research for markets. The Adventures of Scuba Jack is certainly a startup company by definition.

beth costanzo says This is not a pitch for a show-- we don't have any intention to do so. It is our goal to create more videos, more curriculum, more curriculum books, and more story books. We would like to create 26 mini dvd's that teach each letter of the alphabet. We would also like to create some educational toys that get back to basics. We want to keep the concept in our control, we want to be responsible for it's educational core value. Once you hand it over to a tv station, it becomes their property. We are having much too much fun with it. Baby Einstein started out one way, and when Disney took over, it became a totally different concept! That is not part of our strategic plan.

Jack says How is this a business idea and not a pitch for a show? If you want to start a show you should contact the executives at one of the many kids stations or media distributors, this is a site for startup companies.

Dr. Kevin Clancy says I love Scuba Jack. So does Neville, my 5 year old. So do his friends when they come over to play. We can't wait until there are more Scuba Jack DVDs and activity books.

Daniel Vincent says For the past few months, I have been helping the Scuba Jack team overhaul their website and develop their online content. I have been genuinely impressed by the abundance of bright ideas and a consistent drive to improve their product. The concept of a multi-media curriculum for pre-schoolers is simply brilliant, and I can forsee endless possibilities for new genre based product lines in the future. I realize my comments might be seen as biased, but I really do believe in this crew, their ideas, and their intentions, and they have been great to work with. Investors: Get a piece of this one while you still can!

Kim says I have found scuba jack very helpful Having a 3 year old of my own I have watched Scuba Jack several times and I LOVE IT!!! I love how Scuba Jack visits the classroom and also takes the children on a trip to a local beach where my daughter and I are every summer day. I love taking a walk along the beach and my daughter talking to me about the different areas. as a preschool teacher I have found this video helpful when talking about ocean life and when learning about our city. I love the activities that Scuba Jack offers. Just like the children in the video I to believes "SCUBA JACK ROCKS!!" I can't wait to see what episodes come up in the future.

beth costanzo says Gen, Our program is nothing like Sponge Bob-- We teach about the Ocean and the marine life that lives within. We also teach concepts of math, science, history, writing and reading needed to prepare children for Kindergarten. Additionally, our program is the only one of it's kind because you can download the curriculum that compliments each episode. That makes learning interactive and our students actually like completing their assignments! We are currently working on 26 mini dvd's that will teach each letter of the alphabet. Also, we are currently publishing a book, The Beach and very are really excited about this. We got the Little Red School approval for Homeschooling. Since many families have lost their jobs, and were forced to take their children out of pre-school/daycare, we have helped many supplement their child's education. If you have any questions, or would like any additional information, you may email me at my daycare center at beth@majesticharborschool.com

Gen says So are you looking for funding for the next SpongeBob? During a time when we are trying to get our kids off the couch and outside to play, I don't think this is the best use of this kind of funding.

Richard says I have been reviewing all of the companies seeking funding and I feel that this company could potentially go all the way. The possibilities for licensing, franchising, merchandising, etc could be very lucrative. The curriculum, books, storybooks, dvd's and toys are another huge market just waiting to be tapped by families around the world. With a little money, a great PR company and a lot of hard work, I think they have the ingredients for success! Richard

Lauren says I am a teacher and my children love Scuba Jack! They like to pretend they are the characters from the episode exploring the ocean. I love to see the new craft ideas!
March 17, 2009
Anthony Frissora says We use this DVD at our elementary school and the children really enjoy watching it! The "Tide Pool" episode follows the Massachusetts Frameworks for curriculum, which is really important for educators. This is perfect in our classroom, as it reinforces the concepts taught by our faculty. The difference between Scuba Jack and other educational programs is the curriculum that compliments each episode. It makes learning fun, but most importantly, interactive! I hope this company gets the necessary funding needed to create additional episodes! This is truly beneficial for all students! Dr. Anthony Frissoro

kathlyn says Loved it!!!!!

Dana Silva says I have nearly 30 years in the toy and game industry and have been involved with multiple projects that have tried to break into the educational market and it is challenging as there is a lot of competition. However,I believe that Scuba Jack has all the key ingredients for a successful product line. It is entertaining, interactive and relevent.

Loretta Capizio says I am a preschool teacher and my 2-3 year olds love this video. What a great introduction to learning about our environment.
March 17, 2009
Valerie Caldwell says Wow, I can't wait until this takes flight. What a fun and entertaining way for children to learn such important things in our world. I have never seen anything like this before. I'm voting everyday.
March 17, 2009
Kevin Raditich says I am the principal of a school here in Orlando, FL and I personally suggested that our Kindergarten teachers use the Tide Pool curriculum in their classrooms. The children learn core concepts and ideologies quickly -- some students know their days of the week and numbers within a few short viewings! Our kindergarteners really enjoy it and we all smile as we watch them singing along with the songs!

Edward Bishop says My kids love this tv show. They won't stop asking me to watch it; Scuba Jack has taken over my life. It's a great thing to look forward to for the future! Scuba Jack Rocks

Phyllis says I am a preschool teacher in the MA area and I like how they use the mass curriculum frameworks in formulating their dvd's content.
February 21, 2009
Julie Francis says I have a 7 & 3 year old - both watch the pilot episode over and over. My pre-schooler is already singing the 7 days of the week. I like the live & animation mix. I think if given the opportunity could be very successful. Very clever!
February 20, 2009
Laura Howe says I have complete faith in this programing so desperately needed for children who are testing now at 2-3 years BELOW what they were just 15 years ago in a recent study done on 11 year olds. We LACK the tools our children need and I hope Scuba Jack can fill som,e of this void.

Stevie Black says There are two very important components of The Adventures of Scuba Jack on display in this pitch. The first is the layered message of learning in a different environment - physically done by the students in the classroom with the DVD programming and the infusion of energy and guidance by the teachers (and parents at home!) - while the students are learning about the marine environment. Even families that grow up on the shore don't really know how the oceans work and the fact that the planet is 70% covered by sea, makes for pretty important -and timely- learning for the next generation. Secondly, is the emphasis of the pitch on the accompanying curriculum. Any teacher or parent can pop in a video or DVD, but what makes The Adventures of Scuba Jack different is the insistence that the student be working and learning and watching instead of just watching. In my opinion, the more children can be physically interactive while learning, the better they will function as students and, later, as adults.

Mary Robbins says What a wonderful program - it's great to teach kids when they are young about our environment!!!!
