hi
i am looking to develop a website and i am not sure if i should hire programmers[big cost] or simple give the job to an outside developer?

my main concern with outsourcing the job is the developer stealing my idea.
how do i make sure that my idea is protected when i start discussing my idea with the developer?

thanks
sohail

Most developers aren`t really interested in developing an entire business around your idea.

Due to the fact they are low on capital and most likely just don`t want to do anything other than design, there is a very small chance they will steal your idea.

If it`s a single site that requires low-maintenance, then find a small reliable company to handle it.  They may not offer you a great deal like the craigslist spammers that outsource your stuff to china or india, but you will get quality local work.

Just try and find someone who understands your goals and just get it done.

If you really want to protect yourself, find a confidentiality agreement on the web and have them sign that.  That`s the legal way to protect yourself.

Mostly though, don`t worry about them stealing your idea, worry about them creating a crappy website.

We do some development, shoot me an e-mail about the kind of project you want to do and I`ll at least give you an idea of what it should cost no matter where you get it done at.

Have you thought of hiring an outsourced staff by a reputable company?

Hi,

Try our web development company.  We are interested in building a business around your website.  We actually include website planning, content copy writing, internet marketing, and consulting with our web development packages:

P.S. you can actually rent a programmer from our company that works 9-5, Monday - Friday if you would like.

Hello,

as a free lance webdeveloper i agree with guerrillaRed, i`m interested in developing a site, not stealing business ideas.
If you choose to work with `real` webdesigners, you will pay a little more, but you will also benefit a lot of their experience in making an outstanding website, conform the webstandards, easy found in search engines (as Google, Yahoo) . Most important is the content of a site and how this content can be found by the visitor.
