I`m designing my first toy product and am wondering if anyone has hired a safety specialist to help them design their product right the first time rather than design it and take the risk that it will not pass safety testing. I can access the safety regulations online at the Consumer Products Safety Commission and the American Society for Testing and Materials, but they are not an easy read and I`m thinking a specialist might be able to easily tell me if the materials I want to use have lead or phthalates in them, or if certain types of wood will shatter when dropped.
Any previous experience with this?
