I would like to know if anybody out there has any knowledge on the legal aspect of using a contractors license for two businesses. My future business partner has a contractors license for his existing construction business. My question is how can we legally use that license for a new startup shower and glass company? Can we make our new company an affiliate of his existing construction company?  We live in California, so I dont know if the labor laws are different than in other parts of the U.S.

I`m pretty sure the contractor`s license has a person`s name and a business name, but you can make the business name the parent company?

Call the board in Sacramento - it`s not hard to get through.
