I have an idea for a line of products that would make winters a lot easier to deal with. I contacted a company about presenting my ideas to industry but then found out that it could cost as much as $16000 and only 14 people in the last 5 years have made more than they invested. Is this normal? I have no experiance in business and am not sure what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking, people who have inventions will not make money with investors services.

I did a lot of research myself on a product I had an idea for a few years back, and realized that for me, the legal costs and startup investment was way too high. I sold the idea to someone I know (in the right industry, with a manufacturing business, and I could trust him), but if I hadn't, I would have simply let it go.

I think this is nothing special. Make sure the business is scalable and have sound cash flow projections before sinking any serious dough into it.

Doing what you love is amazing, but love doesn't prevent you from losing money! If you are really serious about this, take classes, join Meetups, and research research research!!!!!!!

PS .... Meetup.com would be a great start to meet people who have the same interests and goals that you have!
