Hello, this is just for fun! I am not going to open a coffee hut or any thing, just wanted to see what you all do!
And yes, you did read that right, I drink around 75 cups of coffee a day! Just regular old coffee! I really love the taste, but I do it for another reason. Trying to get my business booming so I work 20-22 hours each day! Some times, I think my dream job is a nitemare! lol
Thanks for the votes and lets see what we all do to motivate us in the morning, (or in my case all day long)!
If you don`t drink coffee, what do you do?
Thanks again
Tony

Sort of, I drink about 600 oz of coffee a day, and if we assume an 8 oz cup, then that works out to be 75, but my cup is a little bigger than that.
Thanks for the vote and the post!
Tony
I worked with a guy who drank coffee from sun up to sun down and I always wondered what would happen to him if we took it away from him even for half a day.
How about an experiment Tony? You are unique! Do it for mankind! Set a day for your coffee abstinence and keep us posted througout the day. This could be a valid study for extreme coffee drinkers.
If you would rather have a red hot poker shoved into your eye than avoid your coffee then forget it......you would probably die without it.
I don`t want to cause you harm!
~Eric
A few months ago I was in the hospital for about 2 days, the doc could not figure out what was wrong with me, but when I told them how much coffee I drank they would not let me have any.
I got a slight headache but that was all. I just use it as a filler I think, I guess it is better than some things (like soda), but worse than others.
But I will give it a shot! I am game, Tuesday September 5th is Tony`s no Coffee day! Lets see what happens and how it goes!
Tony
Allright Tony, we`ll be there to cheer you on..............hey. I hope you won`t be substituting your coffee with Mountain Dew or Coca Cola.....of course that would defeat the entire experiment.
So what`s it going to be? Milk? Water? Orange Juice? I`m sure you`ll tell us as the day moves on.
One more thing..did you say what brand of coffee you drink?
See ya on Tuesday
I will not be substituting any thing with caffeine in it! You are correct that would defeat the purpose. I will drink water or juice.
Yes, I did have a physical, I have a condition that is called pancreantitus (the spelling in that is not right I bet!). My pancreas is supposed to control the release of enzymes in to my stomach for digestion, instead, the do not releases and work on pancreas instead. I also have/had a mild case of appendicitis, that could not be operated on due to the other condition. The docs decided that I should eat nothing but grass (slightly overstated) and not drink any thing but water. The condition is brought on by heavy drinking, but as I don’t drink the decided it was my diet and the coffee. When I stopped drinking the coffee the pain did not go away so I started drinking again. But (believe it or not) I have cut way back.
I will post during the day to let you all know how it is going!
Tony
The docs decided that I should eat nothing but grass (slightly overstated) and not drink any thing but water. Tony
.....And I thought the Gluten-Free contingency had it tough!
Hats off to you! Best of luck to you during your caffeine free day.
~Eric
Yikes, Joel...............it`s almost 10am here. We haven`t heard from Tony yet......I hope he`s OK! Afraid! I`m not a doctor 75 to zero does feel dangerous.
Tony........are you there?.........Tony?
Wake up! Move away from the light!
GOOD MORNING ALL,
I am on the west cost and it is a lovley day here in Central Oregon. I am still alive, have had a lot of water, and it is hard to get going. Finally stopped working at 4:00am this morning, slept for 3 hours, did my invoicing for the month and I am getting ready to head out to drop them off (saves a stamp and I get paid faster some times). All seems to be going well right now. Will give you all another shout out in a few hours!
Thanks for the support!
Tony
Still here, tired, but alive! Been drinking V8 Juice, need to get off that stuff, it is worse than coffee!
T

PS: I need the Nation to say a colletive prayer for me, just lost my lease on the building I am in, have to be out in 30 days! The owner of the building likes me but needs the space for another business that he owns and could not get around it.
30 days is not much time! Grrr
You will be glad to know that I survived the day. It was hard but I did it! Thanks for the support, now I think I will continue, not cold like today, but will cut back a bit.
Keep the votes coming, interested to see how people get going in the morning!
Talk to you soon!
Tony
Thanks for the info, I will give it a try. I know that it is not good to drink that much coffee but I do love the taste!
Thanks for your vote!
Tony
Jeff, I love how it`s have a coffee OR take a nap. Isn`t that the truth?! You have to decide...hmmm can I let this go for a few minutes or do I need to give myself a boost and get it done right now.
I`ve been meaning to start a thread asking if anyone takes a "siesta" in the after noon and what time they do it and how long. I think we don`t have that figured out here in the US like we should.
~Eric
I think for me it has become more "mental", the cafine does not really effect me, when I do have a "designer" drink, it is usually a 4 shot mocha or 4 hot "snickers bar". If (as Jeff sometimes does) I have one in the afternoon or evening, I can be asleep in 20 min.
I try to take several "cat naps" throught out the day! Boy that would be the life!, but recess at my shop happens a lot, we have a fun place to work and as long as the work gets done, then I encourage recess! It helps that all my employees are "flat rate". They get paid only for the work they do! Saved me $1600 in payroll the first month I did it, and we got more work done! Funny how that happens.
Thanks,
Tony
That`s nasty, buddy. I didn`t even know they still made "Taster`s Choice".
Blah
During the week I grind beans and make it in the `ol Krups coffee maker. It`s a compromise, but I get by for the sake of time. Today and tomorrow (weekends) I grind beans and make it in the French press. MMmmmm.
I drink Caribou or stuff I get online. IMHO, that `big name` coffee place that everyone equates with good coffee over-roasts their coffee beans. Sumatra (which I like) is nearly undrinkable from that place.
Tony,
I have to admit...about 2 years ago I was drinking the equivalent of your coffee intake with RedBull. I would have 3 before lunch, 1 with lunch, 2-3 after lunch and about 4-5 throughout the night. But I was working hours like yours. I worked a day job with a mortgage company and then I worked at a bar at night until about 3:00...got about 2 hours sleep then off to work again! Without the RedBull...I would`ve collapsed the first week. As it was...I made it almost 6 months like that! Then I had my wisdom teeth pulled...went off RedBull cold turkey...and went through the WORST detox.
I had NO idea you could detox from caffeine. The first day I was just tired with a mild headache...the next week was HELL...shakes, upset stomach, you name it!!! If you do decide to cut back...do it gradually...don`t shock the body too much! It is painful!!! Now...I am a cup of coffee in the morning, and either ice tea or coke during the day (only 2-3). I haven`t dared to drink a RedBull since then!
Glad to hear you made it safely through your turkey day!!! Keep us posted on how your move is going!
Thanks for the advise, I know it will be hard to quit but so far every time that I have had to stop for an extended period of time, the only problem that I have is that I get tired!
As for the move, I am not sure what is going to happen. The realestate agent has only found one location that will work, and it is 7000 sq ft. More than double what I have now and I can not offord that! So.... I am quite worried right now!
I will keep you posted, thatnks for the support!
Tony
I don`t / can`t drink coffee - it makes me nauseous and my heart race.
I don`t like the taste of coffee, especially the aftertaste but do like espresso and cappuccino unfortunately because the caffeine makes me sick and lasts very long in my system (up to 10 hours once) I sometimes make a small espresso once a weekend before noon and only have a few sips. So far I`m the only one here with this preference but while I`m working on jewelry designs on the weekends, I like to enjoy a glass of wine or a
I drink about 2 to 3 cups a days x 7 days in a week.

And thanks for pointing that out again SolidGrnd! Again it is the oz of coffee that I was going for, and yes I do drink coffee all day from the time I get up till I go to sleep usually about 4:30am.
Good thoughs about the tea! I do drink tea some times, but usually coffee!
Also, I think I found a new building so my (and your) prayers may be answered. Will let you know if the next few days!
Tony
Hey all,
Enjoying my 32nd cup of steaming hot coffee for the day, it is a 20 oz cup, so that puts the total for the day at 640 oz or 80 cups of coffee! Started drinking it at 6:30 this morning and it is 10:36 here. So that is only 40oz per hour or two cups of coffee!
Just wanted to keep you all up to date.
Thanks for putting this in the news letter! I feel like a star! I will send anyone who wants one an autographed picture of me and my coffee for a small price plus shipping and handling! Lol
Thanks for all the great post here at SuN and keep them coming! How about an area just for fun postings like this one, we all need a break during the day!
Thanks again!
Tony
Man, I have never seen anyone with that much coffee power. Are you sure this is OK? I dont know much about drinking coffee and the consequences of it. All I know is that anything in extreme is bad for you. In any case, I hope it is not a big deal.
BTW, I am sorry about the rent. Have you been able to get around this problem. This is a big one I am hoping you have found a solution for it.
Good luck!
Sheesh Tony!!! You beat your own record!!! In all fun and games though...you should really maybe switch a few of those to decaf or something! When I use to work for coffee shops in my high school years...I got up to 8 shot mochas...basically ate my stomach from the inside out after a while! I love coffee as much as the next guy...but your body can only handle that for so long...I worry about you!!!
Anyway...good to hear things might be turning around on the rent thing! Keep us updated!
I know, I do switch some times to decaf, but I just don`t like the taste as much! Most people can not tell the difference and neither can I, I bet, but I can when I make the pot! lol
I am going to give them the LOI today, I just hope I get the free rent! Winter is the slowest time of the year for me, and the other person that is going to move in will not be ready for 6 months but it will all work out!
Thanks for the support!
Tony
I drink a 10 cup "coffee" pot of tea - with caffeine of course- first thing in the morning. At the office I generally drink one more pot before lunch. Lunch is topped off with 1 can (down from a 12 pack) of Diet Dr. Pepper. Then I switch to decaf/herbal/red tea and have 1 to 2 pots by dinner time. At dinner there is another pot of tea shared with the family. I do cheat though - for each 10 cup pot of tea there is usually only 1 to 2 tea bags. I do not like strong or bitter tea. I drive my family insane with my huge 7-11 80oz mug (don`t know if you`ve seen one) or extra large icee carry cup full of tea.
I really enjoyed all the stories. It is nice to know I am not the only one.
Well...
Here is the update for me, coffee will be cut way back. Not for health reasons (But I bet it will help), but I am going to close one of my business down so that I can focus on other stuff and spend more time at home with the fam! So I will be getting more sleep! No need for as much coffee. I wish that this business could go on with me running it but it is just not going to turn a profit any time soon. It has been a good but hard 8 months.
Here is some advice, I bet most of you know this but I did not and now I am stuck. If you are going to purchase an exsisting business pay some one to evaluate the business. No matter how smart you are (or think you are) a disinterested third party will see things that you dont and can lead you in the right direction. I have invested countless hours, and about $60,000 of my own money in this and now I have to walk away. Hard lesson to learn but I have learned it.
I will be still starting business and working at the sprirt of being a small business owner. Some times you just have to know when to walk away, lick your wounds and live to fight another day!
Thanks for all the support!
Tony
Tony,
So sorry to hear things aren`t working out with the business! You havea true small business spirit though...I see you coming back with a vengence on your next go round!!! Good luck on the scaling back of the joe...and best of luck on your other endevours!
Tony-
Thanks for being so upfront in sharing your experience in the purchase of the business and the consequences of not having a pro looking into the deal prior to closing it. There is a valuable lesson to all of us. So many times we decide to move forward in an area that is not of our best knowledge and we end up making simple mistakes that can kill us.
Also, congrats on giving up on "some of" the coffee. I am not a doctor, but this cannot be good for you. Also, congrats on being able to spend more time with the family. Life is good that way!!!
