From 2006 to 2009, Steve Erixon focused on various administrative aspects at Skaggs Regional Medical Center, a nonprofit community-based hospital comprised of 165 beds. Some of Steve Erixon’s achievements during this period include decreasing FTE/AOB to 4.10 while simultaneously improving employee morale from 34 percent to 63 percent; changing employee health benefits to self-insurance, which resulted in a savings of $875K for the hospital; and growing market share of inpatients to 67 percent in the primary market and 39 percent in the secondary market. Steve Erixon also recruited 15 physicians and 8 mid-level providers and opened a new cancer treatment center.
Prior to managing Skaggs, Steve Erixon served as President and CEO of Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. With a primary facility of 270 beds, subsidiaries of 2 rural health clinics, and other diverse concerns, Baxter Regional Medical Hospital greatly benefited from Steve Erixon’s leadership and guidance. Beginning in 1998, Steve Erixon set forth a plan to upgrade operations and minimize expenditures at Baxter, which meant increasing operating cash from $2.4 million to $20 million, conducting major additions and renovations to the facility, converting analog imaging technology to digital by 2006, and various other improvements.
Baxter Regional Medical Center recruited Steve Erixon from Memorial Mother Frances Hospital in Palestine, Texas, where he acted as CEO from 1996 to 1998. Navigating partnerships between Trinity Mother Frances Health System and Providence Healthcare Corporation, Steve Erixon proved a crucial part of the organization by guiding Memorial Mother Frances Hospital out of bankruptcy, increasing cash flow by 40 percent, and creating new physical rehabilitation and geropsychiatric units.
