We used Photoshop (you could use another image editing software) and created a 16x16 pixel file of the image we used for our favicon.
We then created a favicon file using a website such as http://www.favicon.co.uk/ or http://www.degraeve.com/favicon/. We found these by doing a Google search for "favicon creator".
Once you have the favicon.ico file, just upload it to the root directory of your website.
Once the favicon.ico file has been uploaded, go to your website. It might take hitting refresh a couple of times to make your favicon appear.
It is as simple as that!
Just for clarification purposes (mainly for our own curiosity since we know nothing about actually starting an online auction service), do you actually want to start an online auction service, or do you want to sell on an existing service, such as eBay?
We have our accountant do monthlies so he is up to date with our taxes. If we only hired him to do our taxes annually, he would charge the exact same amount as he would have to go back through and do each month just as he does now.
We pay considerably more than $100 a year for our accountant to do taxes and we give him our very organized files each month.
Not sure what one gets for only $100 a year to do business taxes. We are very content with paying a monthly fee because we know that our accountant goes through our books (QuickBooks) with a fine tooth comb every month and makes sure everything is done in a way to satisfy the IRS.
Now, if we could get all of this done for $100, we would be beside ourselves happy. Then again, our CPA would not be in business for very long.
Honest truth, I wouldn`t hire an accountant just to handle that for you. (Though finding a good accountant is probably a good idea anyway.)
We can`t agree with PiperTax enough on this one! You should hire an accountant if you are going to be in business. It will take a load off of your mind knowing that the taxes/accounting is being handled properly.
We have both a state and city sales tax we deal with. State is filed online. City is done via a two page form which we just copy the state stuff onto. VERY easy, once you do it a few times.
Our business name is "2dizzylizards LLC". Now this has nothing to do with what we do, but it is a very memorable name.
There is a lot to be said about naming your business something that makes it very easily identifiable as to what you do. Then again, you better be sure that is what your company is going to be doing from now until the end of time, or you will have to change your company name!
Back to our name... It is amazing how many times we get comments about how people think it is a great name. Therefore, it is memorable, which is something that you should strive for in naming your business.
Never once have we had someone comment about how the name has nothing to do with what the company does. So does it truly matter, as long as your name is memorable? Makes you wonder... After all, think of some of the big tech companies (Google, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon). Their names have nothing to do with what they are all about. They are just very memorable.LizardWisdom11/29/2007 7:05 PM
