| Description: | L. Alexander Nolan Publisher, writer, artist, inventor Born in Hamtramck, Mich. (Dec. 12, 1955) to George, Sr. and Agnes Haynes, George, Jr. adopted the pen name L. Alexander Nolan early in his writing career, in his days in high school. The son of an auto worker, he is the eldest son of five children, acquiring much of his mechanical skills from his parents, while being inspired by his oldest sister`s artistic talents. George was drawn at an early age to the natural sciences, physics becoming his ultimate field of interest. By age 18, he had written several lectures and articles concerning Relativistic Physics and Mechanics, and had written a dissertation on Nuclear Physics by age 20. He was largely self-taught in the sciences, resorting to the local public and university libraries as the source of his material. Obtaining a sound, strict education in the Detroit Public Schools system, he later obtained an Associates degree from Wayne County Comm. College and is currently working toward his Bachelor`s in Software Development. He had created his pen-namesake company Nolan Media Ltd. in 1999. Attempting to master literature in both the fiction and non-fiction genres, he completed the massive Of Blood, Of Glory, Of Fools (1981), a dramatic novel concerning tragic figures during World War II Austria, and about five years later he had begun his most ambitious work Electron- ic & Computer-Science Source (ECS), an encyclopedia which was to be printed as hard-copy, but later digitized as an e-book. While in high school, he had written several articles and lectures in subjects involving chemistry and physics; his Calculus-An Introduction (1981) was his first serious work of higher mathematics. By 1983, he produced four more dissertations concerning physics and nuclear mechanics which were dedicated to his oldest sister and mentor, Judy Johnson. Currently, he`s completing a text book on Linear Algebra, a manual on Mechanics, countless articles, lectures, and documentaries, all of which are to be sold as digitized books, or e-books. Much of his fictional works hint of inspiration from the works of Poe, Hemingway, and Shakespeare, his favorite authors. Many of his science-fiction novels and shorts stories reflect his familiarity with the works of more contemporary writers such as Asimov, Vonnegut, and Ellison. His Leara: Phantom of Dorrimyr (2000) and the creation of The Sisterhood exhibits his current favor of the works of Tolkien; while his Bedeviled (2005) displayed an irresistible subject to him, namely Gothic horror. His other works of fiction are mostly pulp-fiction or comic-book style, which he believed to set him up for more serious and sophisticated works. Born into a strict baptist environment, he denounced his former religion upon subscribing to Marxist doctrines early in his teens. By his late teens, he followed the beliefs of his sister Judy, a devout Jehovah`s Witness, and later sought the more accepted religious communities, namely Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. His Catholics: Past and Present reflect his newfound devotion to the church, as the work ex- plores the history of the Catholic Church. His philosophical outlook was tempered by his adherence to Catholicism, as reflected in his Collective Man and State and the Being, both works expressing an undeniable passion for Ayn Rand and John Locke, and the philosophy of Objectivism. Clearly, in these works, he denounced the liberal aspects of moral relativism and the more severe by-products of the sexual revolution and the New Age philosophies. Believing his fellow publishers were unable to publish his works in satisfactory form, he went on to form Nolan Media Ltd. in 1999. The company is a collection of genre-specific publishers which produce his own works and works by outside authors. The sole purpose of his company is to produce books in electronic form with the emphasis on simplicity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Major works (Web sites) UCI Internets, other Web sites; Educational- Elements of Mechanics (manual); Electronics & Computer-Science Source (encyclopedia); Consumer Electronics (micropedia); Lectures: Theories of Integration and Lebesgue Measure-Riemann Integral, Lebesgue Measures, Lebesgue Integral of functions which are sometimes negative or nonnegative,, Functions of a single variable, Evaluation of double Integrals Lie Groups and their Algebra and Topology-Basic Concepts, Complex Semi-Simple Lie Algebras, Solvable Lie Algebras Initial Value Problems-Ordinary Differential Equations, Laplace Transform and the z-Transform, Difference Methods for Initial Value Problems Introduction to Differential Equations Topics in Algebra-Manifolds and Lie Groups, Elementary Differential Geometry, Bol Loops and K-Loops, Frobenius Group Particle Dynamics -Introduction to Field Theory, Motion of a Particle in 2nd and 3rd Dimensions, Motion of Charged Particle in the Electromagnetic field Discrete Time Signals and Systems -Discrete Time Signals, Analysis of Discrete-Time Linear Time-Invariant Systems, Discrete-Time Systems described by Differential Equations Amplifiers -Low-Frequency and High-Frequency Response Calculation, Multistage Amplifiers, Tuned Transistor Amplifiers, Feedback What is Electromagnetic Radiation?
